Compass Government Relations Partners and its members have represented diverse gaming businesses before the Maryland General Assembly and the State Lottery and Gaming Control Agency. Maryland has a complex gaming ecosystem that delicately bridges the diverse interests of casinos, thoroughbred racing, bingo, and Lottery. Compass members have worked on legislation authorizing the use of Class II instant ticket VLTs, supporting clients on the procurement of their Class I VLTs, and representing casinos on sports betting and taxation matters. 

 

 

Practice Members

 

Rob Garagiola heads our Gaming Practice. During his 15 years in the Senate, including a three-year tenure as Majority Leader, Rob was intimately involved in the passage of Maryland’s gaming expansion, serving on the Workgroup to Consider Gaming Expansion which ultimately led to the establishment of a 6th casino license at National Harbor. 

 

Hannah Powers Garagiola has represented a broad range of gaming clients in her 15-year government relations career. Her deep relationships on Ways and Means and Budget and Taxation have resulted in significant victories for her clients. 

 

Tyler Bennett is a former staffer to the Budget and Taxation Committee, Tyler has an expert understanding of Maryland’s gaming ecosystem.

 

Isaac Meyer has extensive experience representing clients before the Senate Budget and Taxation Committee and House Ways and Means Committee.
